Introduction to FIT

FIT (the Forced Innovation Technique) secures better innovation faster, by combining the benefits of the evolutionary approach (incremental change capitalising on the “tried and true”) with the benefits of the revolutionary approach (radical change based on new, “outside-the-box” thinking).

FIT accelerates innovation by forcing:

  • many short, fast innovation cycles instead of a few long ones
  • prototype-based research instead of a research-based prototype
  • continual alternative generation instead of merely refining the existing

The following pages explain the merits in forcing these approaches.
